About Best Birmingham
Why Best Birmingham exists, which Birmingham jobs its lists cover, where they reach, what we leave alone and how it stays free of adverts.
A tenant in Selly Oak moves out on Friday, a family in Sutton Coldfield wants an 11 plus tutor before the September tests, a couple in Handsworth still has no caterer for a wedding of hundreds. That is the moment Best Birmingham is built around. Each list covers one narrow job and names the Birmingham firms that make their living from it, so you start with a handful of names rather than a blank search page.
What the lists cover
Home and trades, from boiler installers, electricians and roofers to joiners, damp specialists and window companies. Private health, from dentists and GPs to scans, physiotherapists, opticians and counsellors. Weddings, including the Asian wedding trade of halls, caterers, photographers, videographers and bridal shops. Legal help such as conveyancing, family, immigration and injury claims, alongside accountants, mortgage brokers, letting agents and surveyors. Car garages and MOT centres, driving lessons, tutors, music teachers, vets, dog groomers and the bespoke jewellers of the Jewellery Quarter. New lists arrive in batches, so the site keeps growing.
Where the lists reach
These lists are for anyone who lives or works in the city, from Sutton Coldfield, Erdington and Handsworth in the north to Harborne, Selly Oak, Moseley, Kings Heath and Hall Green in the south, with Digbeth and the city centre between, and for neighbouring towns such as Solihull, Smethwick and West Bromwich. Further out, Wolverhampton and Coventry are not covered. Each entry carries an address, so the journey is yours to weigh up, whether by train into New Street, Moor Street or Snow Hill, by Metro, bus or car, and whether it crosses the Clean Air Zone.
What we don’t do
Best Birmingham has no workshop, surgery or law office of its own, so medical, legal, financial and building advice are not on offer. Nothing is booked or quoted through us, readers hand us no money and nobody’s work is inspected. Any agreement you reach is with the business alone.
Who pays for the site
Nobody pays to read the site, no adverts appear on it and no place on a list can be bought. A business that has already made the cut may take Pro, a fuller page that can carry photos, prices, promotions and a phone number, or Top, which sets it among the first three entries of its list. Each paid plan is labelled, and every other business stays where the editors placed it. If we have got something wrong, tell us at info@bestbirmingham.uk.
